"Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast." -- William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet.

Middlegame Strategy Advice

  1. Be kind to your pieces.  Know where your pieces like to be: Bishops and Rooks on open lines, Knights in the centre; everyone likes space and the centre.
  2. Use all your pieces -- make them play as a team
  3. Gang up on your opponent's weak spots - pawns or kings!
  4. Don't attack without good reason.
  5. When attacking, keep pieces on
  6. When defending, swap off dangerous pieces.
